My grandmother used to tell me, “Child, never stop learning, it’ll keep you young.” I kept that in mind when I decided to head back to school. Included in the software I received for my classes is a really neat program called Windows Movie Maker and I found I couldn’t resist, I had to play with it after I found an online article for making book trailers.
Book trailers are quite an inventive tool for promoting your books. I’ve seen several and after seeing Gigi’s the other day, I decided to try my hand at it. I thought surely it can’t be that hard. The creative process wasn’t bad. I really enjoyed it and had fun with it. The trouble came when I tried to upload it to YouTube. My first attempt had it saying, sorry this file isn’t recognized or supported by YouTube. What!
I finally broke out the instructions for the Movie Maker. (I’m absolutely terrible about that.) I’m the type who will push buttons and mess with it til I figure it out. Bad Dakota. Anyway, I realized I forgot one important step, PUBLISH MOVIE…yep, if you don’t do that, it doesn’t convert it into a video file which can be read on Youtube or other sites. Lesson learned.
Below is the trailer. I’d be interested in hearing what everyone thinks about it.

Well done!
Book trailers are an interesting concept. I know of a few authors in difference genres that have made trailers for there books. It’s not always done well, but when done right it seems like a good promotional tool.
