So many ideas, so little time

I was talking to a friend last week, you know just babbling about something or another, when I was hit by another one. Another idea. For another book. Because really the four I’m currenly working on aren’t enough.

So I blamed her (don’t worry, she’s used to it!) and told her I wouldn’t write it because there’s no way I can deal with so many ideas in my head at once. Except that when I was on my way home that night, the characters took shape in my head and they started talking. No, seriously. By the time I got home from work, I had the premise, some kind of a plot, why they were at that point in their lives, what’d happened to get them there…they wouldn’t stop talking, damn it! I knew what was going to happen with my heroine. All that was missing was the end of the freaking story.

But I held strong. Go me! So all right, I might have thought about a possible title for that book. Idea. Whatever. And I might have found one.
However I’m still holding strong.

One week on and I still haven’t typed a single word.
I might have the whole book in my head but hey, I haven’t written any of it. See, I’m being good. Right?

This is a problem that I have also dealt with. Only I get my ideas from dreams instead of friends. It seems before I can even work on one story I get the ideas for 3 more. Have them all listed on a post it note on the computer.

Keep up the ideas and writing!

    Hey Dawn,

Thanks a lot for your comment.

I used to get ideas from dreams too but lately it’s been conversations that have sparked something in my head. For ‘Location, Location, Location’ for example, we were chatting about something and I ended up with “Wouldn’t it be cool if the heroine got him mad all the time because she thought he looked hot when he was angry?”. Yeah, I know *grins* it’s not much but it worked!

Emma, off to do some more work (TGIF!)
